Arsene Wenger could be set to hand four Arsenal youngsters their European debut on Thursday night against BATE Borisov.

Speaking ahead of Arsenal’s second Europa League tie of the campaign against BATE Borisov, Wenger gave the lowdown on four young players who could be set to make their debut: Charlie Gilmour, Marcus McGuane, Josh Dasilva and Vlad Dragomir.

“Gilmour is a defender or central midfielder,” said Wenger. “McGuane is a defensive midfielder, and overall he can play as a wing-back or even a centre back in training.

“Josh Dasilva is a left wing-back or a left-centre back.

“Vlad Dragomir is a Romanian boy, he was with us for a few years, he’s a No 10, Wilshere-style, left-footed, a creative player.”

Dasilva made his senior debut against Doncaster in the League Cup last week and although he only played for 45 minutes during the 1-0 victory, coming on to replace the injured Calum Chambers, it suggested that we’ll be seeing more of the 18-year-old in the immediate future.

The England u20 international has made five Premier League 2 appearances this season, scoring once and assisting three times.

Gilmour has been at Arsenal since the age of six. The 18-year-old central midfielder, who worships Santi Cazorla, has only made one Premier League 2 appearance this term.

McGuane, also an 18-year-old midfielder, has scored twice in six Premier League 2 appearances after rising through the ranks.

Aside from having the world’s coolest name, 18-year-old Dragomir has made four appearances for the reserves this season.

The Romania u21 international signed for the Gunners from ACS Poli Timisoara in 2015.

It’s unlikely that any of these four youngsters will actually get a start against BATE Borisov as Wenger has already said he’s fielding an experienced team. However, they may get a chance off the bench and, if they do, good luck to them.
