Arsene Wenger has given an update on Danny Welbeck’s injury.

Welbeck had to be substituted towards the end of Arsenal’s 0-0 draw due to what looked like a groin problem.

While he was fighting for possession with David Luiz, he pulled up and started feeling his groin.

Wenger has confirmed that it is a groin problem, but doesn’t know how serious it is.

“Danny Welbeck has a groin problem, I don’t know how serious it is,” Wenger said, as reported by football.london.

“It looks like a good groin problem, not an easy one.”

We won’t know the severity of the injury until Welbeck has a scan. It is, though, a blow for a player who had just gotten fit again and was having a good run of form.

Another absentee, Mesut Ozil, missed the game with a knee injury.

There were doubts over Ozil before the game as he was training away from the main group. Evidently he wasn’t ready to play against Chelsea.

Wenger has yet to give an update on the injury. However, it seems the injury isn’t that serious if he’s still training, and he has a whole week to recover from it.

An update on Arsenal’s injury situation is expected before Arsenal play Doncaster on Wednesday.
