Danny Welbeck is reportedly set to miss around a month of football for Arsenal after picking up a groin injury in Sunday’s 0-0 draw at Chelsea.

Latest reports state the initial scan on Welbeck’s injury was inconclusive, meaning he’ll need to have another to establish the extent of the groin problem.

The Sun believe that Arsenal are expecting Welbeck to be sidelined for the rest of September and half of October, meaning he will be absent for games for the Gunners and the England national team. Arsenal have four games in less than two weeks, while England have two World Cup qualifiers Welbeck now looks set to miss out on.

This is disappointing given how well I felt the 26-year-old was playing. After scoring on international duty, the striker came back to Arsenal and managed two goals and an assist against Bournemouth, and followed that up with a disciplined performance against Chelsea.

Just when it was starting to seem like he’d found an important role in the team, Welbeck will now have to sit on the sidelines again. The first-team have Alexis Sanchez who could take his place, but the question is: who will fill in as a back up?

Either way, we wish Danny the best in his recovery.
