Arsenal could reportedly benefit from a sell-on clause for Oğuzhan Özyakup if the former academy star ends up being sold by Besiktas.

The Gunners originally sold Özyakup to Besiktas in 2012 for £445,000, but since then the player’s value has significantly increased, and the Turkish club now want £17.75m to let him go, according to Turkish outlet Bursada Bugün.

This suits the Gunners just fine, considering they reportedly have a sell-on clause that equates to 30% of the sale price. This would be roughly equal to £5.3m if Besiktas sold the 24-year-old for the asking price.

Bringing in over £5m for a player Arsenal sold back in 2012 for much less would represent good business by the Gunners.

Özyakup has captained Besiktas for four of their seven matches this season and is a key player for the team. Last campaign, the central midfielder managed 40 appearances in all competitions, scoring five goals and providing 10 assists.

As a result, clubs like West Ham and Tottenham reportedly showed interest over the summer, although Besiktas’ main concern was trying to get Arsenal to remove the sell-on clause for a fee of £0.89m, which the Gunners now seem wise to have turned down.
