Mesut Ozil has provided a fitness update after missing out on Arsenal’s clash against Chelsea on Sunday.

Ozil was allegedly seen training separately from the rest of the Gunners ahead of Arsenal’s trip to Stamford Bridge amid rumours that he’d injured his knee. The 28-year-old went on to miss the 0-0 draw against Chelsea.

Fortunately, the German has announced that he’s on the mend after suffering from minor inflammation of the knee.

The playmaker is no stranger to injuries. Since signing for Arsenal from Real Madrid in 2013, Ozil’s spent 178 days sidelined. So hopefully this is as minor as he claims and he’ll be back in action soon.

Not that the Gunners struggled against the title-holders without him. They actually did pretty well considering most people tipped them to get battered.

Arsenal face League One side, Doncaster Rovers, in the League Cup on Wednesday night and while Ozil won’t feature, he was always highly likely to miss this since he’d probably be rested anyway.

Other players set to miss out are Santi Cazorla (ankle), Francis Coquelin (hamstring) and Danny Welbeck (groin), while Alexandre Lacazette, Hector Bellerin and Sead Kolasinac were also said to have been given a rest from training on Tuesday.
