Mesut Özil has dedicated Arsenal’s win against Bournemouth to a young fan suffering from a brain tumour.

Charlie is 12 years old and a big Arsenal fan, and Ozil has made the youngster his special guest on multiple occasions. This time, it was Charlie’s birthday so the German international invited him down for the game, reports Football.London, gave him a signed shirt and posted on Twitter: “Proud we could make my young friend Charlie smile again today.”

It’s another show of class from the 28-year-old, who never seems to shy away from the opportunity to give something back to the community. When Özil received a bonus for winning the World Cup, he used it to pay for the surgeries of 23 sick children in Brazil.

He invited Charlie along to a game last season after fans on social media tried to draw his attention to the situation, and teammates often talk about how “if you’re ever out with him, he never lets you pay”.

All of this is indicative of the kind person I’d want involved with this football club, on and off the pitch. Now he just needs to sign a new contract so he can be involved with the Gunners for a bit longer.
