Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho is reportedly planning to try and pick up Arsenal’s Alexis Sanchez on a free transfer at the end of the season.

Despite Manchester City being favourites to sign the Chilean international, rivals Manchester United are now also entering the race, according to talkSPORT. The report claims that manager Jose Mourinho wants to pick Alexis on a free transfer when his deal expires next summer.

City are reportedly going to make a move for Sanchez in January, according to the same talkSPORT article, so if United want to get him on a free they’d have to just wait and hope that City weren’t successful.

Also, with the Daily Star reporting that Real Madrid, Bayern Munich and Juventus are all expected to be after the Chilean, the Red Devils don’t even have the upper hand in the free transfer market.

The Premier League rules allow for foreign clubs to negotiate with Alexis about a pre-contract agreement from January. United, on the other hand, would have to wait until May before they’re allowed to put their offer to Arsenal’s number seven.

If Manchester United really are keen on a move, they’d be much better off joining City in trying to buy him in January, in my opinion. But as an Arsenal fan, I hope they don’t.
