Lucas Perez thanks the fans, teammates and Arsenal staff following his loan move back to former club, Deportivo, but neglects to mention Arsene Wenger.

Lucas took to social media to thank Arsenal fans, his teammates in north London and the staff after finally completing his move to former club Depor. Although it’s only a loan, the La Liga club still have to cough up a £4m loan fee.

Interestingly, however, Wenger is notably absent from his ‘thank you’ note.

While it’s possible that Wenger could be ‘Arsenal’s staff’, I highly doubt that.

Although Lucas had been toying with the idea of leaving north London for a little while towards the end of last season, the 28-year-old appeared to make his mind up once and for all when Wenger signed a new two-year deal. The forward only made 11 appearances in the Premier League and knew that if the Frenchman stayed there, his situation was unlikely to improve.

It’s a shame because in 21 appearances across all competitions, Lucas still scored seven goals. Yet, he wasn’t really given a proper chance, which begs the question why Arsenal spent £17m on him only to try and get rid of him a year later.

Hopefully he gets adequate game time at Depor. I’m sure he will.
