Lucas Perez delivers a classy farewell message to Arsenal fans despite probably having every reason to feel bitter following his loan move to Deportivo La Coruna.

On Saturday evening, we reported on Lucas’s social media message to Arsenal and fans, and pointed out how Arsene Wenger wasn’t included in the thank yous.

Despite not including the manager in his farewell message, the post is still incredibly classy when the 28-year-old would be completely forgiven for being bitter. Here’s why.

Look at it this way. Lucas, as mentioned in his parting message, saw his £17m transfer to Arsenal as a dream. He would be playing in the Champions League under Wenger, and the Gunners had paid a decent amount of money for him considering he wasn’t an international and was 28.

However, the forward went on to only make nine starts for Arsenal and while fans were told that he was occasionally injured, a lot of the time he was simply missing.

Despite so few starts, he still scored SEVEN goals, including a hat-trick in the Champions League.

It must have been hard to watch Alexis Sanchez get game time when the Chilean wasn’t in form.

Alexis was undroppable, yet when Lucas was given the opportunity, he always produced. That must have been hugely frustrating.

Sure enough, Lucas began looking for a move somewhere he could play football and found himself returning to La Liga.

It’s a shame because most Gooners feel as if the forward could and should have been given a better chance.

Despite his move to Depor only being a loan, I get the impression that we won’t see him feature for Arsenal again.
