Joleon Lescott claims he would rather sign for Arsenal over Tottenham because he’s more likely to get game time.

Lescott, who’s currently at Aston Villa, believes that Tottenham’s defence is far too good for him to get into and therefore he’d rather sign for Arsenal given the choice.

“Me personally I would probably sign for Arsenal due to the fact that Spurs have a better defence and I probably wouldn’t play!” Lescott said on Sky Sports News.

“In terms of progression and looking forward you probably would say Spurs.

“The way they’re building a new stadium, the players and the squad that they’ve got, the way they like to play.

“The last three years they have been consistently in the Champions League spots.”

Talk about a back-handed compliment…

Annoyingly, he’s got a point.

At the moment Arsenal have Laurent Koscielny who is suffering with ongoing Achilles and back problems; Per Mertesacker, who’s in the final year of his playing career and freely admits that he won’t be able to play more than once a week; Rob Holding, who’s been scared of his own shady since the Leicester game; Calum Chambers, who has paper legs; and Shkodran Mustafi, who doesn’t even want to be at the club.

Nacho Monreal and Hector Bellerin aren’t exactly looking like world-beaters right now and Sead Kolasinac, until this point, has been played as a centre-back when he’s a wing-back.

In three games, Arsenal have conceded eight goals compared to Spurs’ three.

Saying this, although Lescott may be right about the Gunners having the worse defence, I’m still not sure he’d get into it…
