Krystian Bielik has been ruled out until the end of the year after undergoing surgery on the shoulder injury he picked up that scuppered his loan move this summer.

The 19-year old had been the target of a number of clubs for a loan deal during the transfer window but he picked up the injury at the end of the month.

Given that he hopes to be back on the pitch at the start of December, it is likely that he will get to spend the second half of the season out on loan.

Last season, having sealed a deadline day switch to Championship side, Birmingham City, he was an important part of an improved backline which avoided relegation after a catalogue of poor decisions within the club as well as a drastic run of disappointing form.

Disappointingly, Bielik only made one substitute appearance in Birmingham’s final three league fixtures of the season, having made seven consecutive starts as part of a three-man defence before Harry Redknapp was appointed manager.
