Arsenal’s Jordan Nobbs picked up two awards at the FA Women’s Football Awards recently, after a very good year for the player at both club and international level.

Nobbs won the awards for the FA WSL 1 Players’ Player of the Spring Series, as well as the award for the FA WSL 1 Goal of the Spring Series for her 30-yard free-kick against Manchester City.

Claiming her awards, Jordan talked about how proud she is to be recognised in this way, saying (via Islington Gazette): “It’s an incredible feeling, if you want to win any award as a player, it’s one that other players have voted for. It’s a very proud moment and I’m very grateful.

“I feel like I’ve pushed myself a lot this year, but hopefully there’s more to come and I’ve still got more in me. I’ve had a great season with Arsenal and I’ve loved every minute of it, so to win this award is the perfect finish.”

On the award-winning goal, she said: “I do like to shoot and thankfully that went in! I’d been practicing a straight run technique and thought ‘what’s the worst that can happen?’ I know I have it in my locker, so it’s a great feeling to know it went in.”

Nobbs (24) has been one of Arsenal’s key players recently, and she’ll be hoping to inspire the team to a good start when the WSL kicks off again on September 24th. Arsenal face Birmingham City in the first match of the new campaign.

The Gunners’ last game of pre-season was against Everton, and Nobbs was in great form, scoring a scissor-kick volley in a 3-0 win. Add to that the confidence boost of being voted the best player of the Spring Series by her peers, and Nobbs will likely be heading into the new season ready to take on anything.
