Jeff Reine-Adelaide was ready to join Bolton Wanderers in a deadline day loan deal, but the move fell through.

According to Loïc Tanzi of RMC Sport in France, Bolton attempted to sign the player on loan, but the move ended up not coming off, and Jeff will therefore stay with Arsenal and try to convince Wenger he’s ready for first-team opportunities.

Very little information was given for why the move fell through, with only the following tweets providing any insight:

Reine-Adelaide has already been involved on multiple occasions for the Arsenal first team. Last season he made the bench in the Champions League for one game, and in the league seven times, but didn’t get any minutes. However, in the two domestic cups he made six appearances, five of which were starts.

This isn’t bad going for the 19-year-old, especially given that he picked up an injury that kept him out for parts of the campaign. Arsenal did well with Jeff in the team, scoring 15 and conceding just 3 in matches he appeared in.

In the new season the midfielder has only turned out for the u23s so far, starting the games against Derby and Liverpool and providing one assist.

This year should provide plenty of opportunities at this level, given Reine-Adelaide’s obvious talent, but the first senior chance is likely to come when Arsenal face Doncaster Rovers in the EFL Cup.

Until then, it’ll be back to the Arsenal training ground.
