Italian media rehash reports of Fiorentina beating Arsenal to Dusan Vlahovic

Arsenal were reportedly ready to sign 17-year-old Partizan Belgrade striker, Dusan Vlahovic, in the summer but the teenager is set to join Fiorentina in January instead.

Vlahovic is set to sign for Fiorentina in January. However, as Arsenal allegedly showed some interest in him in the summer, the media over in Italy have taken it upon themselves to rehash stories about the Italian club winning the battle for the 17-year-old.

Calcio Mercato describe it as the Serie A side clinching his signature from ‘wide competition’, which tells you everything you need to know about why this story is being spread again. They’re clearly happy that Fiorentina ‘won’ their man.

As Sport Witness point out, the report probably surfaced to make Fiorentina look good.

After signing his first professional contact in 2015 at the age of just 15, Vlahovic has made 27 appearances since and he’s found the back of the net just three times. He’s also managed one assist. Granted, he’s only made one start in that time.

He made nine appearances over all competitions last season, scoring zero goals.

He’s been capped three times for Serbia’s u19s and scored once.

However, he’s only 17 and I’m sure has plenty of talent ripe for developing when he signs for Fiorentina in January.
