Shkodran Mustafi put in another less-than-convincing defensive performance against West Bromwich Albion on Monday, and Arsenal fans weren’t happy about it.

I felt Mustafi had a mixed performance against Chelsea the previous weekend, dealing with Morata well in the second half, but playing Pedro onside for a great chance in early on in the first period and losing Morata a couple of times before being bailed out by Monreal or Koscielny.

That performance left some fans happy and others disappointed, but there wasn’t so much of a divide on Monday night, as Mustafi looked very shaky for me.

A penalty should have been given for a wild sliding challenge from the German in the first half, and that wasn’t the only time West Brom were almost gifted goals by Mustafi.

He was lucky to have Monreal on hand to spare his blushes again. Arsenal fans were unhappy with the centre-back, with one person in particular saying he needs to learn from Monreal’s performance, reports HITC.

That fan wasn’t the only one to take to Twitter to express their displeasure at how Mustafi has been performing:

Although they’re perhaps taking things too far with the “Liverpool level” comment, if Mustafi really does want to move on to Italy at some point, he needs to start putting in better performances, so other clubs actually want to buy him.

If he wants to stay, then the same applies.
