Ex-Arsenal defender Kerrea Gilbert has appeared in court over the alleged sexual assault of a 17-year-old girl.

The Sun are reporting that Gilbert has appeared in court over the sexual assault of a 17-year-old girl in a rented apartment following a friend’s birthday drinks in Bristol.

A court heard, the report claims, that the 30-year-old and his friend, Nathan Roach-Doctrove, 28, raped the teenager after inviting her and her friend to the apartment in Easton.

The Sun reports that CCTV camera footage shows the two girls entering the building.

The victim, who is said to have steadied herself against a wall in the footage, had apparently vomited earlier in the evening and been labeled as in a “vulnerable” state by prosecutor Virginia Cornwall when she arrived at the apartment at 3.25am on April 23, 2016.

Gilbert was allegedly known as ‘Kaine’ to the girls and Roach-Doctrove was known as ‘Andre’.

The pair reportedly made sexual advances towards the girls before the assault took place.

After the victim had been raped, she is then said to have sought out her friend, who was reportedly yelling in another room because the two men were ‘trying to have sex with her’.

At 5am, both girls left the apartment and went to the police.

Gilbert and Roach-Doctrove denied having intercourse when they were interviewed.

Both deny the charge of rape.
