Arsenal youngster Emile Smith Rowe has been named in England’s squad for the u17 World Cup.

The 17-year-old attacking midfielder is the only Arsenal player to receive a call-up by head coach Steve Cooper. The tournament, which will be held in India, runs from the October 6th to October 28th.

The England team will be in a group with Chile, Mexico and Iraq as they look to continue an excellent period of success for the nation’s youth teams.

The u17 squad finished runners-up in last summer’s u17 European Championships, while the u19 group won their own Euros and the u20 group won the World Cup.

Smith Rowe will face considerable competition for a starting spot in the England team.

Borussia Dortmund’s Jadon Sancho, who Arsenal were linked with throughout the summer, is the star of the squad, while Manchester City’s Phil Foden is regarded very highly. Chelsea’s Callum Hudson-Odoi and Liverpool’s Rhian Brewster are also exciting forward talents.

Nonetheless, it should be a positive experience for Smith Rowe, with England expected to go far in the tournament. Here’s hoping we see even more of our young talent representing the Young Lions in the future.
