Several players were rested for training ahead of Wednesday’s match against Doncaster Rovers.

Arsenal play Doncaster in the third round of the Carabao Cup on Wednesday and are expected to make several changes to the squad, reports the Express.

According to Jeorge Bird, Hector Bellerin, Sead Kolasinac and Alexandre Lacazette are amongst those who have been rested.

From my understanding, the trio are expected to be left out of the game, along with fellow first-team players Petr Cech, Laurent Koscielny, Nacho Monreal, Shkodran Mustafi, Granit Xhaka and Aaron Ramsey, so say reports.

Bellerin played 90 minutes last Thursday against Cologne in the Europe league before completing another 90 minutes against Chelsea. Kolasinac also played on Thursday, coming on as a second half substitute for Rob Holding before starting last Sunday.

As for Holding himself, the Doncaster game will be an opportunity for him to rebuild some confidence after a difficult start to the season. I believe Lacazette could be replaced by Olivier Giroud, who’s still looking for his 100th Arsenal goal.

It seems the fans attending the game will also be spared the sight of Mathieu Debuchy labouring up and down the right flank. Despite surviving the transfer window, he’s yet to be involved in any first team matches.
