Ross Barkley would prefer to join Tottenham instead of Chelsea or Arsenal, according to reports.

The midfielder remains an Everton player despite rumours all summer long that he would be on his way out.

A move to Chelsea yesterday broke down, as it seems the player really wants to join Tottenham.

According to the Evening Standard, he wants to join Tottenham so badly that he would reject Arsenal and Chelsea in January.

Barkley was linked with Arsenal all summer and was thought to be one of the players Arsenal could have brought in to replace Alexis Sanchez yesterday.

However, it seemed that Arsenal had no serious interest and were after other targets.

Frankly, Spurs can have him.

The 23-year-old is a wildly inconsistent player with plenty to work on. Having already gotten rid of one frustrating player in the form of Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, we hardly need another.

He certainly wouldn’t come close to replicating what Alexis can bring to the team when he’s bothered.

Unless Arsenal are really struggling for targets, Spurs will face no competition from the Gunners in the January transfer window.
