Arsenal are reportedly keen on Genoa wonderkid Pietro Pellegri, with the highly-rated teenager becoming the Serie A’s youngest player to score two goals in one game.

The 16-year-old made the headlines last weekend when he scored twice in Genoa’s 3-2 defeat against Lazio. Pellegri became the youngest player to score a brace in Serie A and is already attracting attention from several clubs.

According to Calciomercato, Arsenal, Manchester City, AC Milan, Inter Milan and Juventus are all interested in him. Pellegri has been compared to Zlatan Ibrahimovic due to his imposing physical appearance despite being such a young player.

Naturally, there’s an incredible amount of hype around the teenager after those two goals.

Genoa were a goal down before Pellegri came on in the 33rd minute. He equalised for them in the 57th minute, before equalising again in the 73rd minute after Ciro Immobile had put the visitors ahead.

The two goals were scruffy and preventable from a Lazio perspective. Nonetheless, it’s a remarkable story. If Arsenal are interested, they will face competition from just about every major club in Italy, it seems to me.

Genoa and AC Milan have a good relationship, having exchanged players between each other several times over the years. Hence, Milan are believed to have an edge on the competition.
