Arsenal have reportedly been scouting Schalke midfielder, Leon Goretzka, and are allegedly willing to hand him a bumper deal to entice him to north London.

Goretzka, who’s out of contract with Schalke at the end of the season, has been linked with the likes of Bayern Munich and Barcelona. However, Arsenal are allegedly willing to try their luck by offering him a bumper deal.

According to the Mirror, the Gunners have been scouting the 22-year-old recently with one of Arsene Wenger’s top men said to have been following the Germany international for the last month… slightly creepy.

Barcelona are currently seeing out their transfer embargo, which means that Arsenal could be in with a good chance of signing Goretzka if they’re willing to splash the cash on his wages.

Goretzka joined Schalke from VfL Bochum in 2013 and has since gone on to make 125 appearances for their senior team, scoring 16 goals and assisting 13 in that time.

Last season, he netted eight and assisted six. This term, he’s scored once and assisted once.

If Wenger really does have his best scout on the case, it shows he’s serious about signing Goretzka. He would also be a logical signing for Arsenal since our midfield needs work and Jack Wilshere is most likely leaving in 2018.

However, we hear these stories all the time. All we can do is wait to see if there’s any truth to the rumours.
