Atletico Madrid defender, Jose Gimenez, has revealed that he ‘dreams’ of playing in the Premier League.

Gimenez, who has been linked with Arsenal, Liverpool and Manchester United in the past, is quoted by L’Equipe (via talkSPORT) as saying that he ‘dreams’ of playing in the Premiership.

The 22-year-old was allegedly being hunted by Jose Mourinho but the addition of Victor Lindelof, as well as Phil Jones and Eric Bailly’s form so far this season means that the Portuguese manager apparently isn’t quite as interested.

Apparently, any of the three Premier League teams could make a move for the defender in January.

Gimenez is yet to sign a new deal with Atletico and his current contract runs out at the end of the season.

The centre-back’s release clause is supposedly £50m. However, with so little time left on his deal, he could end up going for free.

Considering Arsenal sold Gabriel to Valencia for £10m in the summer, another central defender would presumably be a welcome addition.

The Uruguay international has been at Atletico club since 2013 when he signed from Danubio for just €900,000. He’s gone on to make 99 appearances for the La Liga club, scoring five goals and assisting the same amount.
