Arsenal interested in Valencia 15-year-old Ferhat Cogalan

Arsenal are one of seven clubs following Valencia youth midfielder, Ferhat Cogalan, according to reports in Italy.

Tuttomercatoweb reports via Gunnersphere that AC Milan are the current favourites to sign the 15-year-old, but that plenty of the other major teams in Europe are interested. Manchester United, Real Madrid, Juventus, Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund are listed along with Arsenal as the clubs following the player.

Cogalan has been on the radar of European clubs ever since he was 12 years old, and scored a couple of impressive goals in the final of a youth competition for Valencia. Since then, his progress has reportedly continued to impress to the extent that Valencia have put a buyout clause in his contract worth over £900,000.

However, Cogalan can’t sign that contract until he turns 16 in November, so this allows the other top clubs an opportunity to negotiate with him before that happens.

What Arsenal will be able to offer Cogalan that other clubs may not is the chance to progress through to the first-team. Alex Iwobi and Hector Bellerín are recent examples, and Reiss Nelson now seems close to making the same step up.

Also, the chance to work with fellow attacking midfielder Mesut Özil, who also has a Turkish background, could be a big draw for the youngster.
