Arsenal are looking to sign Anthony Martial, according to reports.

The French forward currently isn’t a starter in Jose Mourinho’s Manchester United team, leading to speculation that he could push to leave.

According to the Daily Star, Arsenal are hoping that Martial’s frustration at his lack of minutes will lead to a transfer.

Martial is a regular substitute for United and has made an impact coming off the bench for United this season so far.

Even if he was upset with not being a starter, there’s zero chance that Jose Mourinho will sell him to Arsenal.

This is a man who, during the summer of 2013, refused to let Demba Ba join Arsenal on loan because he didn’t want to strengthen a rival. Ba was third choice striker at Chelsea at the time.

He was also vehemently opposed to Petr Cech joining Arsenal in 2014, again on the grounds of not wanting to strengthen a rival. Cech was no longer first choice at Chelsea and wanted to remain in London.

Odds are that even if Martial plays no football and really, really fancies a move to London, Mourinho would sooner send him to Crystal Palace or West Ham than he would to Arsenal.
