Udinese midfielder and reported Arsenal target Jakub Jankto struggled against AC Milan, which may put the Gunners off of signing him.

The Czech midfielder impressed for Udinese last season and is attracting the interest of Arsenal, AC Milan and Juventus, so say latest reports.

Arsenal were expected to have scouts at Udinese’s recent game against AC Milan to watch Jankto. And according to Sport Witness, they wouldn’t have been impressed with what they saw.

Normally a central midfielder, Jankto played on the left side of midfield and, unsurprisingly, struggled. The Italian paper that were hyping him before the game, Gazzetta dello Sport, described him as “timid” and “inaccurate” and gave him the low score of five.

According to them, he was the worst performer for Udinese in their 2-1 loss to Milan. Udinese have been playing a 4-4-2 this season so far, with manager Luigi Delneri seemingly preferring Seko Fofana and Emil Hallfredsson in the heart of his midfield.

Jankto has been frequently linked with Arsenal and is regarded as a long-term target for the club. The 21-year-old had a breakthrough year for Udinese last season, scoring seven goals in 35 appearances.

If Arsenal are convinced of his quality, a few bad games out of position shouldn’t deter them from signing him.
