The England international spent the summer recovering from broken leg, suffering a hairline fracture in April while on loan with Bournemouth. Wilshere made 27 Premier League appearances for the Cherries last season, making just two assists, and has just 12 months left on his deal at Arsenal.

Manager Arsene Wenger has said he will have to work hard for a starting place next season given the stiff competition for a starting place, but having Wilshere in the squad is a fantastic option in Santi Cazorla’s absence.

With no new deal currently on the table for the 25-year-old, while a number of clubs have shown interest in the Arsenal, his future at the Emirates has been speculated about. However, Wenger said Wilshere could stay at Arsenal if he gets himself fit.

“I think Jack will be with Arsenal next season, yes. I will give you a very focused answer on that, that he has to work hard to come back and fight for a place in the team. But once he is ready, when he comes back, he will not be far from practising with the team,” he said, reports Football.London.

Wilshere has the likes of Granit Xhaka and Aaron Ramsey standing in his way of playing time as a deep-lying playmaker, while Mesut Ozil and Alexis Sanchez are expected to occupy the attacking roles behind the striker next season. Game time could allude Wilshere again as a result.
