After watching his side twice come from behind to beat Leicester City in a seven-goal thriller, Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger was full of praise for the side’s fighting spirit.

It was an enthralling game of football at the Emirates Stadium , with both sides coming from behind to lead in periods. The victory was only Arsenal’s second opening day win in the Premier League since 2009.

“At some stage it didn’t look like (we would win). Overall I must say we kept going and the spirit of the team was absolutely outstanding. (We had) 70% possession with 27 shots on goal. It was a top-quality match,” said Wenger, reports Arsenal.com.

The Londoners had gone ahead minutes into the game courtesy of Alexandre Lacazette, before goals from Shinji Okazaki and Jamie Vardy saw Leicester come from behind to lead.

Arsenal found an equaliser before half-time from Danny Welbeck, but Leicester once again edged themselves in front through Vardy.

And with the scoreline Arsenal 2-3 Leicester in the 83rd minute, all looked lost for the home side. But substitute Aaron Ramsey levelled the game with minutes remaining and set up a grandstand finish.

Olivier Giroud, who was brought on in the second half, scored the winner two minutes later to earn all three points for Arsenal.
