Ahead of Saturday’s trip to Stoke, Arsenal manager Arsène Wenger has said Per Mertesacker, Shkodran Mustafi and Francis Coquelin are all available for selection.

The Gunners boss was asked about the availability of a number of players for the trip to the Britannia Stadium.

Wenger also confirmed the returns of Shkodran Mustafi and Francis Coquelin to the squad.

Coquelin played for the Arsenal U23s against Derby on Monday, helping his side to a 3-2 win, which should boost his match fitness for the weekend. Mustafi and Alexis still haven’t played since the Confederations Cup. Mustafi is back but Alexis is currently still out with an abdominal injury.

Mustafi might be in contention for a starting place after being on the bench for the Premier League opener against Leicester. He was one of the players was sorely missed as the Gunners conceded three goals.

Another of the players Arsenal would’ve hoped to have available to help defensively was Per Mertesacker, who was still carrying a facial injury from the Community Shield win against Chelsea. It seems he will be ready again and be fit to start given his injury wasn’t muscle related.

Arsenal have won just once on the last seven trips to Stoke, although they will take heart from the fact that the one win came just a few months ago. Regardless, having most of the squad back will be a welcome boost.
