Arsenal’s Reiss Nelson scored an outstanding solo goal for the U23s against Manchester City last night, leading to fans taking to Twitter to laud the talented teenager.

The 17-year-old was already gaining attention for his performances during pre-season. Having taken his form into the Premier League 2 season, there are now calls for him to be fast tracked into the first-team.

Nelson kicked off his season with two late goals against Derby, which helped Arsenal come from behind to win 3-2 on the night. Last night, he added another two goals in front of a modest crowd at the Emirates Stadium, reports the Daily Star.

He’s possibly the most exciting talent from Arsenal’s academy in many years, and the praise is flooding in from the Arsenal supporters.

Nelson’s impressive form has resulted in calls for him to replace Theo Walcott in the Arsenal squad. While that is unlikely at this stage, Arsene Wenger has admitted that he will rotate heavily for the cup competitions this season.

Nelson could get his first-team opportunities in the Carabao Cup and the Europa League, meaning supporters shouldn’t have to wait too long to see the teenager in action.
