Liverpool legend, Steven Gerrard, reckons that Thierry Henry would cost £200m in today’s transfer market.

Henry celebrated his 40th birthday on Thursday and his former rivals, fellow pundit Gerrard, wished him many happy returns on social media.

The former Liverpool and England star heaped praise on the Arsenal legend, claiming that in today’s transfer market, the forward would easily cost £200m.

Considering Neymar cost just under that this summer, that’s quite the compliment indeed.

Henry scored nine goals against Liverpool during his career, having played them 18 times, so Gerrard is probably all too familiar with the Frenchman’s quality.

Henry was also in the 2001/02 side to beat Liverpool to their first ever title by seven points.

The now-40-year-old netted 227 goals for the Gunners during his six years in north London, plus his loan spell from New York Red Bulls in 2012, and also assisted 67.

During his entire career as a footballer, the former France international scored a whopping 353 goals and assisted 136.

He was one of the best players the world has ever seen and probably ever will see, and Gerrard is right when he says that, by today’s standards, Henry would easily cost £200m.
