Robbie Savage believes Alexis Sanchez will be dismayed by Arsenal’s performance in Saturday’s defeat to Stoke City.

The Gunners suffered a 1-0 loss in the Premier League against Mark Hughes’ Stoke side on the weekend, and were opened up on the counter a number of times at the Britannia Stadium. Alexis was viewing the game from the stands.

“(Arsenal) can’t defend. Alexis Sanchez must be watching that thinking ‘Oh dear me’,” Savage told BBC Radio 5 Live via The Sport Review.

Arsene Wenger had named somewhat of a makeshift side for the trip to City, with Hector Bellerin starting at left wing-back, while Nacho Monreal and Sead Kolasinac started as two of the three centre-backs.

It’s fair to say it didn’t work on the day, but it’s unlikely that Alexis has dramatically changed his opinion as a result of the outcome.

Regardless of whether the Chilean wants to leave Arsenal or not, he was part of Arsenal’s failure in the race for a top-four spot last season and is still contracted to the club for another year.

The 28-year-old, who has missed the first three games of the new campaign, will have to play his part in turning the club’s fortunes around.
