Arsenal are reportedly ready to offer Mesut Ozil and Alexis Sanchez a combined £525k-per-week in order to convince them to stay.

Both Ozil and Alexis have under 12 months left on their current deals and while Arsenal are allegedly confident that Ozil will put pen to paper on an extension, they’re not so sure about Alexis.

The Sun claim that the Chilean has already turned down £225k-per-week and the Gunners are now reportedly preparing to offer him £300k-per-week, which would make him the highest paid player in the Premier League.

Arsenal, meanwhile, have apparently had a breakthrough in their negotiations with Ozil and the German is set to agree a new £225k-per-week deal with the club.

Not that this would come as a huge surprise if true. The playmaker has always said that he wants to stay and that he loves the club. Plus, he’s apparently renewed his box at the Emirates.

Alexis, on the other hand, looks increasingly likely to leave if not this summer, then next on a free.

While Arsene Wenger insists that he’s staying for the time being and has previously claimed he’s confident that the 28-year-old will sign a new deal, his most recent comments to SFR Sport, in which he reveals that he’s not optimistic over the forward staying long-term, seem to paint the real picture.

“He’s an Arsenal player in the short term,” Wenger said. “Now, will we manage to extend his contract?

“We didn’t manage to do that last season so I’m not super optimistic in that regard, but we have the firm intention of not selling him.”

Arsenal face Leicester City in their first Premier League clash of the 2017/18 season on Friday night at 7:45pm.

While Ozil could feature despite a previous ankle problem he suffered in training, Alexis has been ruled out with an ‘abdominal injury’.
