Arsenal are reportedly back in for Monaco’s Thomas Lemar from Monaco, as a possible replacement for Alexis Sanchez, and have made a crazy club-record bid.

The news coming from Sky Sports sources is that Arsenal are still in the running for Lemar. Kaveh Solhekol reported the news on Twitter, saying: “We’re also told Arsenal are back in for Thomas Lemar from Monaco.”

The Mail is now reporting that Arsenal have bid £90m for the player, which would smash the Gunners’ transfer record if true. However, this bid hasn’t yet been confirmed by other sources.

There had been rumours earlier in the day that Arsenal weren’t going to be in for any major signings because of financial issues, with wages becoming a difficulty with such a large squad.

So this latest update could perhaps hint that if Arsenal are after Lemar for such a high price, there could be a major outgoing as well, possibly Alexis Sanchez to Manchester City, I feel.

Arsenal have already had three bids rejected for Lemar and looked finished in trying to sign the 21-year-old this summer. Arsene Wenger seemingly gave up trying to bring the Monaco star to the Emirates Stadium too.

The problem is that Monaco were unwilling to do business, and then Arsenal signed Alexandre Lacazette, using up a big part of the transfer and wage budget. But the situation appears to have changed, meaning Lemar may yet join the Gunners.
