After taking Reiss Nelson, Joe Willock and Cohen Bramall on pre-season tour, Arsenal have officially promoted all three to the first team.

Nelson was particularly impressive during pre-season and has already scored a brace for the u23s in Premier League 2 this term, helping the Young Guns fight back from 2-0 down to win 3-2 against Derby County.

Bramall’s contract runs out at the end of the season after he signed from non-league side, Hednesford Town, in January. However, if he’s been promoted to the senior squad, this suggests that his deal will be extended.

The trio will keep their current squad numbers of 61 (Nelson), 69 (Willock) and 40 (Bramall).

While it’s unlikely that we’ll be seeing any of them getting a regular place in the Premier League starting XI, the Europa League, as well as the usual League Cup clashes, will be a good opportunity for the promising youngsters to get some experience and show what they’re made of.

The three youngsters join the likes of Ainsley Maitland-Niles who got his first Premier League appearances last season. It was only a minute against Sunderland but it’s a big step for a 19-year-old to take.

Hopefully Nelson, Willock and Bramall will get similar chances.
