Arsenal face FC Cologne in the Europa League on 14 September and former Gunner, Lukas Podolski, seems pretty bloomin’ excited.

Following the Europa League draw at 12pm on Friday and news that Arsenal will be facing Cologne, BATE Borisov and Red Star Belgrade in Group H, Lukas Podolski took to social media to voice his excitement over two of his former clubs clashing.

Poldi, who’s been in the press this week due to a bizarre mix-up with far-right website, Breitbart , left Arsenal for Galatasaray in 2015 but has always been open about the fact that he will always be a Gunner.

Just recently, he even posted a picture of his son in an Arsenal kit.

Also, FC Cologne is his childhood club and the German team the Gunners signed him from in 2012.

Therefore, his excitement over the Europa League fixtures between his two former clubs is palpable.

While in north London, Poldi scored 31 goals and assisted 17 in 82 appearances. While this isn’t a spectacular tally, and he could have amounted to so much more if he’d just tracked back, his goal-to-minute ratio was slightly more impressive. Overall, he contributed to a goal every 95 minutes.

Poldi now plays for J-League side, Vissel Kobe, where the 32-year-old has scored twice in five appearances.

Arsenal face FC Cologne on 14 September at the Emirates at 8:05pm UK time.
