Ray Parlour believes that in today’s climate, Arsenal should be getting up to £90m for Alexis Sanchez if they’re not keeping him.

Parlour wants Arsenal to keep Alexis, who has under a year left on his contract in north London, because he’ll be impossible to replace. However, if they don’t, he has an estimate of how much money they should demand…

“There are big decisions that have to be made with Alexis,” the legend told talkSPORT, reports the Express.

“They have to look at his character. He loves football.

“I would keep him because you have to replace him and you can’t.

“They have Lacazette as well, playing with Ozil. If you want to keep in the top four you need to keep your top players.

“How much to replace him in this current market? Sam Clucas from Hull, £20m? Is he in Sanchez’s class? How much would it cost to replace someone like Sanchez. Coutinho standard? So £80m or £90m.

“Arsenal don’t need the money as much as they used to. When you see the likes of Van Persie and Nasri leave.

“Now it’s a totally different situation business wise. They’ve got money in the bank.

“If you want to get into the top four and challenge the likes of Manchester City, Manchester United and Chelsea you have to keep your best players.”

Alexis has been linked with move to PSG and Manchester City this summer, and the Chilean clearly isn’t happy with the Gunners’ lack of Champions League football. However, the Ligue 1 giants have just signed Neymar for £198m from Barcelona, so presumably won’t be willing to sign another star player, and Arsenal are really, really reluctant to sell to City, since they’re title rivals.

Alexis and his girlfriend Mayte Rodriguez attended Arsenal’s 4-3 win over Leicester on 11 August.

Arsene Wenger insists that he wants to keep the 28-year-old for the final year of his contract and risk missing out on the transfer fee but admitted this week that if the Arsenal board want to sell him, they might go over his head.

To be fair, as someone who wants Alexis to say, even I would think the club are foolish to keep Alexis instead of taking £90m.

Alexis is currently sidelined with an abdominal problem and set to miss out on the trip to Stoke on Saturday. However, the boss claims that the forward is training well and could return for Liverpool.
