With all their futures in the balance we’re looking back on Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain’s thoughts on teammates Alexis Sanchez and Mesut Özil, which he gave earlier in the summer.

Speculation has been building around the England winger, in particular this week as reports from the Standard emerge that Chelsea are trying to sign him.

However, when he talked to the Arsenal website about fellow players with expiring contracts Mesut Özil and Alexis Sanchez, Ox had a lot of good things to say about the pair. He confirmed the stories we hear about Alexis always putting in the hours on the training field, saying: “He lives, sleeps, eats, breathes football.

“He’s always training when we’ve got a day off, doing his own little training. He goes and finds his own little section of the training ground where nobody is watching and goes and does his own little thing to stop people from telling him to rest.”

Alex also spoke about Mesut, who he said isn’t worried whether you want to joke around with him or not, but who Ox also described as the “coolest person ever” and that “if you want to engage in a bit of banter with Mes, he’s got a load of banter”.

It seems that Mesut is also keen to share his fame and fortune with others, as Chamberlain said that the German will always be up for inviting you on a holiday, and “if you’re ever out with him, he never lets you pay”.

So it seems that Ox doesn’t have any problems with the star men at the Emirates. But since he still hasn’t signed that new contract, there must be something still holding the player back.

Perhaps he’s waiting for assurances over Özil and Alexis’ future, just like the rest of us.
