Schalke midfielder Max Meyer has spoken about transfer rumours linking him to a move to a Premier League.

The young German midfielder has been linked to a number of clubs in recent times, with Arsenal, Liverpool and Tottenham mentioned as suitors.

Much like his Schalke teammate Leon Goretzka, who Arsenal have also been linked with, Meyer has a year left on his contract and could be sold this summer. Despite this, Meyer appears to be relaxed about his future, and isn’t pushing to leave Schalke.

“It is not the case that I want to leave come what way,” he said, reports Sport Bild via Inside Futbol. “As things stands I will stay, but you can never say for sure when you have one year left on your contract and the trasnfer window is open for a couple of months.”

Meyer is an attacking midfielder, a position that Arsenal are more than adequately stocked in. Despite his young age, he’s made 164 appearances for Schalke and has four caps for the senior Germany team.

He was also a member of the Germany U21 side that recently won the U21 European Championships. Meyer could be a cheap pick-up for any number of clubs, but Arsenal are unlikely to be looking at another attacking-midfielder at this stage.
