Manchester City are preparing to spend £100m on Alexis Sanchez and Jonny Evans, according to reports.

Alexis has been the subject of a lot of intense speculation over the summer so far, with many of the rumours of a departure being based around a reunion with City boss Pep Guardiola.

Now the Daily Star are reporting that Guardiola has settled on Jonny Evans and Alexis as his two major targets before the transfer window closes on Thursday. They claim that City would bid up to £70m to try and convince Arsenal to change their stance.

That stance, as reiterated by manager Arsène Wenger on multiple occasions, is that Alexis Sanchez is not for sale. Alexis only has a year left on his Arsenal deal, but Wenger has stated that Arsenal would be willing to take the financial hit of losing him on a free, rather than missing out on his goals and assists this season.

It would be incredibly difficult for Arsenal to replace Alexis in the final few days of the window, unless the club already has an option lined up already in the final stages of negotiations, which there have been no reports to suggest.

So hopefully, whatever Manchester City have lined up to offer, the answer is ‘no’ from the Gunners.
