Manchester City and Juventus have reportedly joined Arsenal in targeting Sevilla midfielder Steven N’Zonzi.

According to Football.London, N’Zonzi is the subject of interest from the three European clubs, after handing in a transfer request at Sevilla. The former Stoke City man has shone in La Liga but clearly feels he can play at a higher level, given he’s regarded as one of the best midfielders in the division.

N’Zonzi could also have one eye on next summer. He hasn’t yet made any appearances for the French national team, despite appearing at youth level. A high-profile move could put him back on the radar ahead of the World Cup.

The midfielder scored a nice goal against Arsenal in pre-season, with Sevilla winning 2-1, although it wasn’t enough to take the Emirates Cup away from the North Londoners. Arsenal have Granit Xhaka performing well as Arsenal’s deep-lying midfielder, so there isn’t any immediate need for N’Zonzi at the club.

Arsenal have been linked with the likes of Nice’s Jean Michael Seri, but it appears they will be selling players before they bring any more in. Juventus recently signed Paris Saint-Germain’s Blaise Matuidi so they may not make an approach for N’Zonzi. Manchester City are keen on a more defensive-minded midfielder, however, with a dearth of substance in the squad.

The Sevilla star’s future could be resolved in the coming weeks.
