Lucas Perez would be willing to join Newcastle should they make an offer.

There were reports yesterday that Newcastle could be the latest club interested in signing Lucas as Deportivo have struggled to agree a fee with Arsenal. Now according to Chronicle Live, the Spaniards would be willing to join Newcastle should Arsenal accept a bid.

Newcastle manager Rafa Benitez is said want a new striker and could play a big part in convincing Lucas to move up north. Offering him a regular place in the starting line-up would certainly help.

However, it’s said that Newcastle have a limited budget and would only want Lucas on loan. Arsenal want to reduce their losses on Lucas as much as possible and are asking for £13.4m.

Such a price has put off the likes of Deportivo and Fenerbahce, who simply don’t have the funds to meet the asking price. It seems that Newcastle could have the same problem, though not because of a lack of resources.

The 28-year-old will be hoping a move does get sorted this summer, as he still has ambitions of playing for Spain at the 2018 World Cup, where he will need to be playing every week to stand a chance of selection.

Right now, him staying at Arsenal is looking like a possibility, especially after Arsene Wenger admitted he could feature next season.
