According to latest reports, Arsenal striker Lucas Perez is on his way to Deportivo La Coruna, with a loan deal being mooted.

Lucas could be re-joining his former side on a temporary basis, with a £4m loan fee attached and a buying option, reports La Voz Degalicia. He scored 17 goals and made eight assists in 35 La Liga starts before his move to Arsenal 12 months ago, but managed just one goal in the league for the Gunners.

Game time alluded him during his year with Arsenal, with Alexis Sanchez, Olivier Giroud and Danny Welbeck all getting the nod ahead of him in the pecking order. Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger utilised Lucas in the FA Cup and EFL Cup, but the two have since had a rocky relationship.

Lucas’ agent has been at loggerheads with the club after Arsenal rejected bids from Deportivo for the 28-year-old’s signature this summer, despite the two sides being so close in their valuations. Wenger also took Lucas’ shirt number away without telling him, giving it to summer signing Alexander Lacazette.

The Gunners boss was left to make an apology to the player but the damage is already done. Lucas has hardly played for Arsenal since his move last year, and the chance to return to his former club is something he’s been desperate to do.
