Arsenal striker Lucas Perez should complete a £14m move to Deportivo La Coruna before the end of the summer transfer window, according to reports.

Lucas has been linked with a move away from the Emirates Stadium for much of the summer, with Deportivo the most heavily linked club. According to the Standard, the two sides are still not quite in agreement in their valuations of the player.

However, the Standard claim that all parties now believe that a deal will be reached in the final eight days of the window, with both sides willing to compromise to get the deal done. It would certainly be in the best interests of every side to get the 28-year-old’s future sorted.

From Lucas’ point of view, he now hasn’t played football at any level since last season, whilst most of the rest of the footballing world have a full pre-season under their belt as well as the opening games of the new campaign.

For Arsenal, Arsène Wenger’s repeated goal is to finalise deals for departing players. This would leave the squad at a more reasonable size and would free up the wage bill somewhat to help fund players coming in.

Finally, Deportivo would be picking up a player who has already performed well for them in the past, and someone who is reportedly keen to get back to the Estadio Riazor. Hopefully it’s just a matter of time until a fee is finally agreed and we can all move on.
