Sead Kolasinac is over the moon with his ‘cool’ nickname.

Unless you’ve not been paying attention, if you’ve watched Kolasinac play, you’ll have noticed that when he bears a striking resemblance to a tank. Leading Arsenal fans to refer to him as ‘the Tank’.

The left-back, who the Gunners managed to snap up for free after his contract at Schalke ran out in June, has revealed that he loves his new nickname and has been keeping an eye on social media since moving to north London.

“I’ve seen some photos on Instagram which fans have edited, and I found them really funny,” he told Arsenal Player.

“I’m happy to have had such a good start here.

“In Bosnia they call me that [The Tank] too! I’m happy to have such a cool nickname.”

Kolasinac has quickly become an Arsenal fan favourite since his move from the Bundesliga this summer.

The 24-year-old has featured heavily in the Gunners’ pre-season matches and his scored his first goal for the club against Chelsea in the Community Shield on Sunday.

The goal came at the perfect moment, since it meant that Arsenal drew with Chelsea 1-1 and were then able to go on and win 4-1 on penalties.

Considering the Bosnia international only found the back of the net four times during his entire six-year period at Schalke, three of which came last season, for him to have already scored for Arsenal is pretty encouraging.

Kolasinac is huge. He’s the type of player that Arsenal have been criticised for not having, and he brings a certain edge to our side.

I’m sure I’m not the only Gooner who’s excited to watch him in action this season.
