Arsenal are battling Inter Milan for the signing of Yann Karamoh, according to reports in Italy.

Karamoh is a 6’1″ striker who currently plays in France for Ligue 1 side Caen. Last season he made his debut for the club, having played in the youth teams and Caen’s second team for the previous five years.

Upon turning 18, just before the start of the 2016/17 season, he was thrown into the mix with the first team, and went on to make 36 appearances for Caen in all competitions, scoring five goals and adding four assists.

Karamoh’s contract only has one year remaining at this point, so a few big clubs have shown interest in signing the Ivorian-born French youth international.

According to Tuttosport (via SportWitness), Inter Milan are the closest to signing the player, and Caen manager Patrice Garande is resigned to losing him this summer.

He is reportedly already looking at replacements.

Yann is valued at around £4.5m, so he wouldn’t be a costly addition for the Italian side, and he is said to be interested in a move.

Tuttosport claim that Arsenal are now also in for the player, as well as other English clubs such as Everton, Southampton and West Ham. But they say that only Arsenal could prevent Inter from landing him.

It seems very unlikely that Arsenal would be involved in the market looking for a centre-forward at all.

Although the Gunners always seem to be on the lookout for young talent, even the youth ranks are currently stocked in this position.

With Donyell Malen, Stephy Mavididi (who has just gone out on loan and can’t wait to get started), and Eddie Nketiah, the club has plenty of young strikers.

Meanwhile in the first team, Arsène Wenger recently announced that he would have to sell Lucas Perez due to too much competition. Overall it would be a surprise for Arsenal to suddenly go after a striker.
