Liverpool legend Steven Gerrard believes that Alexandre Lacazette will be a good signing for Arsenal.

Arsenal’s record signing got off to the perfect start on Friday night against Leicester. After all the talk about his first goal and how important it was for him to get off to a quick start, he went and did just that by heading in after just two minutes.

The Frenchman has shown glimpses of what he’ll offer the Arsenal team, and Gerrard believes he’ll be a great acquisition. “It was good to see Lacazette firing from the off,” he said, reports the Sport Review. “He looked really good in the Community Shield last week and I think he’ll be a great signing.”

This Premier League season has been billed as the “year of the strikers” as several of the top clubs have a new centre forward. While Arsenal signed Lacazette, Manchester United went and got Romelu Lukaku and Chelsea spent big to get Alvaro Morata.

With the likes of Tottenham’s Harry Kane and Manchester City’s Sergio Aguero already in the league, the race for the Golden Boot looks the most competitive it’s been in years. Lukaku, Morata, and Aguero all scored last weekend too.

We of course hope Lacazette can match them stride for stride, continuing when Arsenal travel to face Stoke City on the weekend. The 26-year-old bagged 28 goals in 30 Ligue 1 games for Olympique Lyonnais last season. There’s no reason why he can’t match those efforts in England.
