England manager Gareth Southgate is set to attend Arsenal’s match against Stoke City on Saturday.

The England boss plans to watch multiple teams in action over the weekend, according to the Daily Mail, as he prepares for the international break at the start of September. Arsenal are one of those teams, but he also plans to attend both of Liverpool and Manchester City’s matches, as well as the game between Chelsea and Spurs.

There are multiple players around the Arsenal first-team at the moment who could be up for consideration for these upcoming World Cup qualifiers:

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain has played the first couple of competitive matches from an unfamiliar position at left-wing-back, largely due to a knock on effect on the team from the lack of centre-backs. Monreal and Kolašinac have both had to fill in at the back, so Ox has had to cover their position. He’s one of the regulars in the current England team.

Danny Welbeck has also made a couple of appearances for Arsenal so far, and he’ll be looking to get involved in the England set up again ahead of the World Cup next year. The last time Danny played for his country was in March 2016, thanks mostly to injuries, but he has a good record with England, with 14 goals and 4 assists in his 34 matches.

Theo Walcott is another who hasn’t taken part in England’s matches this year, despite 47 caps in the past, so he’ll be hoping to impress if given the opportunity.

Finally, Rob Holding and Calum Chambers have mostly appeared for the England youth teams so far, but if either is played against Stoke they’ll want to show that they’re ready to make the step up to the senior side.
