Former Arsenal Women striker Lily Agg has joined 1. FFC Frankfurt after her release from Bristol City.

Lily Agg came to the Arsenal Academy with England caps at U15 level and progressed to the fringe of the first team as she was included in the Japan 11 tour where she made her debut. She’s now the only current British players to make the switch to the Frauen-Bundesliga.

Following a lack of first-team opportunities she moved on to WSL2 team London Bees, Millwall and then her local FA WPL team Brighton while studying at unversity and then taking on a full time teaching job.

During the Spring Series, she moved on to play full-time football, but injuries and the managers’ choices meant a lack of minutes and she was subsequently released at the end of the season.

Signing for 1. FFC Frankfurt is a big step up as the German club have won many prestigious trophies throughout the year, having sealed the Frauen Bundesliga seven times, the German Cup eight times and won the Champions League four times including the inaugural season in 2002 with wins in 2006, 2008 and 2015.

They finished fifth in the League and will try to compete for the Champions League places next season. It will be interesting to see how Lily does in such a big club and hopefully she will score plenty of goals. We all wish Lily good luck in her new adventure.
