Everton could target Danny Welbeck if they can’t get Olivier Giroud, according to reports.

Everton have been linked with Giroud all summer, as they’re looking for a replacement for Romelu Lukaku.

There was some thought that Giroud could leave Arsenal due to the arrival of Alexandre Lacazette. However, for the time being, it looks like he’s going to stay at Arsenal and fight for his place.

According to the Mirror, this could mean that Everton will turn their attention from Giroud to Danny Welbeck instead.

They claim that Welbeck would be worth £30m in this market, and that he has the exact qualities Ronald Koeman wants in a target man.

There is a slight inconsistency, however, as they write that Koeman wants a target man who also has the pace to stretch defences, yet apparently still wants Giroud. The Frenchman has many qualities, but pace to stretch defences isn’t one of them.

Whatever the case, it’s unknown if Arsenal would sell Welbeck or not.

Welbeck himself seems pretty happy at the club, while Wenger has always been willing to give him game time, either up front or on the flank.

£30m is a lot for a player that doesn’t have the greatest scoring record, however, and could make Arsenal reconsider their stance.
