After rejecting a bid from Arsenal for Ousmane Dembele, Borussia Dortmund have told the Gunners how much it will cost to procure his signature.

Earlier, we covered Arsenal having a bid for Dembele rejected. Now we know why. According to the Metro, Dortmund want £90m for the French winger. The amount is eye-watering, yet makes a lot of sense given the current state of the market.

Dembele is one of the best young talents in the world currently and is wanted by the likes of Paris Saint-Germain, Real Madrid and Barcelona.

With another superb French talent, Kylian Mbappe, commanding a price above £100m, and with 16-year-olds like Vinicius Junior being bought for £40m, Dortmund have every right to ask for something outrageous.

Dembele is a genuinely two-footed player and one that’s comfortable on either flank. His pace and the quality of his delivery stood out in last season’s Bundesliga, where he provided 10 goals and 18 assists for Dortmund.

He’s one of those talents who Arsenal probably could have signed from Rennes when he was cheaper but for whatever reason didn’t. Now they’re facing a battle with the biggest clubs in Europe to sign him. This one will remain a pipe-dream for now.
